As a boy, Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) considered becoming a doctor or competitive chess player, but he was encouraged by his father, a trumpet player, to study music. After graduating from the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia, Morricone, while writing his own compositions, worked as a trumpet player and arranger of popular music. In 1961 he began scoring movies. Morricone was constantly engaged in research and experimentation-from 1964 to 1980, he performed and recorded with the avant-garde improvisation ensemble Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza-and the depth and scope of his musical erudition, from classical to jazz, popular to experimental, orchestral to folk, are evident in the hundreds of films he scored.
Along with the iconic Italian Westerns he scored for Sergio Leone, Morricone’s talent for deploying unique instrumentation for dramatic, critical, or comic effect is apparent in his work on the first films of Lina Wertmüller (The Lizards) and Marco Bellocchio (Fists in the Pocket). Elio Petri’s Giallo ghost story A Quiet Place in the Country and twisted policier Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion feature radically different soundscapes to communicate psychological rupture and social decay. Themes of revolutionary hope and the forces that would crush it are powerfully realized in the music of Gillo Pontecorvo’s The Battle of Algiers and Liliana Cavani’s The Year of the Cannibals, while the temporal complexity and moral ambivalence of Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America resonate through Morricone’s composition. Replete with new restorations, Made in Italy: Morricone, Leone, and More offers the opportunity to be immersed in the movies that launched the maestro’s career.

Thank you
Can you educate folks about what is and is not a "film noir." A criminal thriller without any of the classic visual techniques or other film noir conventions is not film noir.
This is very moving, and inspiring. Congratulations on the eminently well deserved Prix Pictet. So pleased to learn more about you and your work. Keep evolving.
When are you coming down under to Melbourne?
Pali older than sanskrat
Ok
Him befriending all these young wayward kids is giving me Michael Jackson vibes. Taking pictures while Lee slept? Flirting with Jane’s son. Feels like they’re glossing over some parts here…
Hayao Miyazaki is truly the greatest artist of our time. His work is magic made manifest.
I worked with Amalia when I was in college . She is such an inspiration and has impacted my life and career. Love you Amalia! ❤❤
Martin was a beast . I miss him from our days painting to eating sushi on 42 Street with Lee .
Beautiful video. I didn’t know about this artist. ❤
Almost everything he did is a masterpiece.
He was the lover of sharp and Rene Ricardo I lived around one time from Martin I saw them quite a few times so to be successful you gotta have homosexual tendencies just like la2 was of Keith haring..
Rude you are
He seemed like such a chill hang.
Thats cool, I want to see that film. 🤔👍 Werner and his wife are good people.
thank you for posting this!
Excellent video. Very interesting, informative and worthwhile video. A must see video for everyone with an interest in art or Buddhism.
🙌
I'm at 1:57 and 7:50. So weird that this was 20 years ago.
SO COOL SO EXCITED
What a beautifully elegant tribute to a great filmmaker. I've viewed it many times... haven't seen another trailer that conveys so much about a director's style as this one does. Truly an education of the soul. Makes me want to see the whole series.
Oh wow this looks so good!
when I saw a picture from the 'fields of sight' it was a revelation and I had to find out more. You are redefining what photography is and can be. Amazing.! I look forward to seeing more-.

This isnt ‚the deconstruction of the gender construct’ behavior like this is keeping it alive and well 😭y’all will have a late realization that only sex matters (since it is biological fact and we should be embracing our biological realities instead of changing our biology to affirm to society) and the gender construct only causes harm and stigma upon humans. Its anti individualist in my view because many people don’t fit the set narrative of ‚females need to be feminin’ and ‚males need to be masculine’ since we are all just individuals that have much more personality than this. Getting ‚gender affirming care‘ is feeding into the construct, not to say that its staying the same, its just giving it a new identity instead of getting rid of it. We successfully beat the gender construct if Females & Males can behave the same way without people batting an eye, when females and males biological realities are seen as the only things that are different about us. Not our behavior, clothes, media, cosmetics and so on…..!!! I never got an answer to these questions and would be happily educated by anyone that is able to. I would love to respect & embrace the gender spectrum but I only see it as an temporary solution to peoples fear or stepping out of gender norms and justifying it with a label. (+english is my 4th language so excuse my grammar mistakes but i want to reach a broader audience with this to get more fruitful answers, because i do need to understand in order to respect).
😥
tf is this shit
Ray Johnson was a beautiful man….
I CAME BACK FOR MORE
Amazing and very informative
Gandhara of Pakistan ❤️🇵🇰 Their descendants are 4 million pluss Pakistanis today. It pains greatly to see Pakistani heritage artifacts in Western museums 😢
I understand your point, but in reality it is only a small minority of Pakistanis who have an interest in such things, but even now in the more remote regions mullahs are urging the local populations to destroy what remains in those places. For example many of the rock carvings in Swat and beyond have only recently been defaced and destroyed - here in the USA and on UA-cam at least all the World can enjoy and appreciate them. There is a glimmer of hope however, the Government of Pakistan is beginning to see the value of what it refers to as 'tourism pilgrimages' by foreign Buddhists, Hindus and Sikhs and so perhaps there is hope for the preservation of what is left in situ.
Liv you have taught me so much about life. All I did was watch & listen to you!❤
